The Audio Suite’s Australian studio is based in Brisbane – the capital of Queensland; a place enticingly described as being ‘beautiful one day, perfect the next’…
And who wouldn’t want to look out of their studio window to see palm trees and blue skies? Certainly not the Audio Suite’s founder Neil Hillman; who had spent more than 30 years either working in darkened mixing theatres in the UK, or recording on location in the kind of changeable weather only Britain has to offer.
When – after completing a self-funded Ph.D. concerning human emotions and Sound Design, and during the height of Covid in the UK – the opportunity to relocate in Australia presented itself, it proved impossible to resist the average of 283 days of sunshine that create the gorgeous climate of Brisbane… As was the urge to create an online training school – the Sound for Moving Pictures academy – and to also offer one-to-one coaching to developing professionals, accessed through a dedicated website.
Our Australian Audio Suite ‘outpost’ (see what we did there?) still works works under the guidance of Neil; meaning this ‘new kid on the Brisbane block’ comes with a back-story of extensive experience and an enviable track record in providing audio post-production services for major studio and independent feature films, High End TV drama, documentaries and commercials.

Neil Hillman MPSE – feature film Sound Producer
Neil has a reassuringly extensive and impressive track-record in location sound recording, audio production and audio post-production: including credits for editing and mixing many hundreds of hours of prime-time television programmes; feature films; TV and cinema commercials; as well as internal, external and business-to-business communications, podcasts and Audible ‘Best Seller’ Talking Books.
As a feature film Sound Producer he works at Producer-level, with executive responsibilities for a project’s sound bible in pre-production; and then by overseeing both the production sound and audio post-production stages, he ensures a project’s soundtrack is consistent to the Director’s vision, and the Producer’s budget, from concept and drafts right through to completion and delivery.

Our DaVinci Resolve Fairlight studio is now operational in Brisbane, delivering quality dialogue edits and pre-mixes for our clients. The set-up below is one of our dialogue editing suites temporarily installed in a client’s cutting room, for the international TV drama Darby and Joan.

By taking advantage of the time difference between Brisbane (GMT + 10 hours) UK clients can benefit from uploading their assets to us at the end of their working day, and then have ‘for approval’ edits or mixes waiting for them on their return to their office the next morning. (For LA, the time difference is an even greater advantage, at PST +17 hours.)
